My First Real Success Hand Feeding Birds

I had written before about my attempts at Hand Feeding Birds. Basically, I did what the Hugh Wiberg book had recommended and went through the process of gradually moving closer to my feeders until the birds were comfortable enough to make some attempts. This involved a lot of sitting in freezing cold temperatures and patience. Deep down, I believed there had to be a better way. I had a breakthrough this week which has changed my outlook on hand feeding birds forever.

Are You Hand Feeding Birds?

At some point everyone who sets up bird feeding stations wants to know if it’s possible to hand feed their little visitors. They build a bond with them and desire a more personal connection. The good news is that it is possible to do. Depending on which approach you take you may even be able to feed them the first day you try. Let’s take a look at a couple of these.

Luckily, I found a great book by Hugh Wiberg called Hand-Feeding Backyard Birds: A Step-By-Step Guide which covered the basics and sparked my interest.
