What Are BirdOculars Anyway?
BirdOculars is a poor attempt at humor. Hoping to help the visitor imagine birding binoculars. This site was started in 2009 and was set up exclusively to help people learn about birding optics.
Since that time, I realized that readers had all sorts of problems feeding birds that needed to be addressed. Since I already had about six years of experience at that time, I thought my insights could be useful.
Readers Responded
Over the years, I’ve had many articles that have obviously struck a nerve. Reader comments continue to come in on the articles about house finch eye disease, goldfinches, wild rabbits, etc.
This confirmed that there were many things I could help you with. Things that just went beyond telling you stories about birds I’ve spotted. Ways to save money, time and frustration seemed particularly of value to you.
My Mission
My goal throughout the years is to give you information you can use now. I’ve never tried to compete with sites about birds or just birding in general. My mission is to provide help for the back yard birder to feed and manage their back yard visitors. Throwing in some articles to let you know a little about who I am. Articles about mindfulness and paying attention come to mind. I want you to have a feeling for who is talking to you without making myself the center of attention.
After all, you come here to learn how to be a better and NOT what I had for lunch today. Am I right? (Sorry, rhetorical question-LOL!)
I Need Your Help!
The only way this blog will continue to be successful is if I’m writing about things YOU care about. I can throw darts and hazard guesses until I’m blue in the face. But when YOU speak, I listen.
I am currently (2020) in the process of revamping and cleaning up this site. Getting rid of content no longer relevant is the first phase. Updating content with anything I’ve learned since it was written comes next. All while adding new content I think we’ll help you.
It’s this final piece I need your help with.
